All scouts are expected to live by the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, and the Outdoor Code at all times. These ideals are the basis for all Scouting America/Troop rules and policies and Scouts should use them as guides for their behavior.
In addition, Scouts are expected to follow the posted and/or verbal schedule of activities and assignments specified by the Troop youth and adult leadership at all times, to do their best to be on time, and to wear the appropriate assigned uniform for all Scouting America/Troop events.
Behaviors and actions that seriously endanger the safety and well-being of scouts, or seriously affect the reputation of the Troop are unacceptable, will not be permitted or tolerated, and may result in major disciplinary action being taken. The following are examples of behaviors that are prohibited at all times:
Purchase, possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, or any other non-prescription drug. (Any OTC or Rx drug must be declared & handled per Scouting America rules.)
Possession or use firearms, fire crackers, fireworks, ammunition, black powder, sling shots, bows & arrows, traditional & martial arts weapons, paint ball guns, aerosol cans, or any other weapons.
Stealing, dishonesty, lying, or cheating will not be tolerated under any circumstances and has no place in Scouting.
Roughhousing, fighting, hazing, threatening or intimidating another Scout with words or actions.
Deliberate damage to personal property or the environment.
Unauthorized or unsafe use of knives, axes and saws, or disregard for safety around cooking or camp fires.
Leaving an activity and/or designated area without an adult supervisor’ express permission.
Ultimately, each Scout is responsible for his own behavior. Serious misconduct or repetitive violations by scouts may result in expulsion from the meeting/event/outing and/or Troop.
“On my honor I will do my best, To do my duty to God and my country, and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”
“A Scout is …trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”
As an American, I will do my best to –
Be clean in my outdoor manners. I will treat the outdoors as a heritage. I will take care of it for myself and others. I will keep my trash and garbage out of lakes, streams, fields, woods, and roadways.
Be careful with fire. I will prevent wildfire. I will build my fires only where they are appropriate. When I have finished using a fire, I will make sure it is cold out. I will leave a clean fire ring, or remove all evidence of my fire.
Be considerate in the outdoors. I will treat public and private property with respect. I will use low-impact methods of hiking and camping.
and
Be conservation minded. I will learn how to practice good conservation of soil, waters, forests, minerals, grasslands, wildlife, and energy. I will urge others to do the same.
