The Boy Scout program is an action program and wearing the uniform is an action that shows each scout’s commitment to the aims and purposes of scouting. The uniform is practical attire for scout activities and provides a way for scouts to wear the badges that show their accomplishments.
We require the scout to wear his “Class A” uniform to the meetings on the first Tuesday of the month, to Courts of Honor, Scoutmaster conferences, Board of Reviews, other special occasions and ceremonies, and activities outside the church, including Camp Parsons.
The “Class A” uniform includes a scout shirt, a Chief Seattle Council shoulder patch, a Chief Seattle Council pocket patch (round), the troop numbers (“80”), the World Scout Crest emblem, and green shoulder epaulets, as well as olive colored scout pants, skirts and/or shorts, scout belt and buckle, a neckerchief, and scout socks.
For the rest of the meetings, less formal occasions and some [work] outings, the Scout may wear their red “Troop 80” t-shirt that they are given when they joined the troop.
Upon joining Troop 80 or 8080, the following items will be provided to all new scouts:
Scout Handbook
Red Neckerchief & Slide
Troop Unit Numerical Patch
Patrol Patch
Red 'Class B' T-Shirt
The following items will need to be purchased by the scout’s family:
Tan Scout Shirt
Olive Shoulder Loops
Olive Pants, Skirt, and or Shorts
Note: It’s highly recommended for younger scouts to purchase a shirt that’s a size or two larger, so they have room to grow without having to purchase a new shirt and moving over all their patches.
